Zulkornain Nayan, a graduate in Geology from University of Nebraska, Lincoln is a registered environmental consultant with the Department of Environment (DOE). (Reg. No. C0024). He started his environmental consultancy career with MAB Environmental Consultants S/B in 1994. Over the stint of nearly 5 years with the company, his involvement and experience cover a wide range of tasks and job scope from conducting site investigation, environmental impact assessment (EIA), monitoring, reporting & presentation, post-EIA monitoring & compliance, public & regulatory liaison, project management, etc. Over the progression of his career with other companies, he was involved in several key projects either in consultancy or environmental monitoring & compliance auditing such as Bakun Hydroelectric Dam, and Pahang-Selangor Water Transfer and Sungai Selangor Phase 3 Water Supply Scheme (K. Kubu Baru Dam). He had also been involved in the first-of-its-kind in Malaysia, a Decommissioning and Disposal Project for a Long-Term (Radioactive) Storage Facility in the capacity of undertaking a Radiological Impact Assessment of the project. Though currently Zulkornain is employed with a biomass energy plant, a project registered with the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework on Climatic Change), he is still very much involved in environmental impact assessment, monitoring and compliance auditing works.
